Dear Colleagues:

Following a national search, we are pleased to inform you that Yonit Kovnator has been appointed to serve as UCLA’s ADA/504 compliance officer.

A graduate of UC San Diego and the University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law, Ms. Kovnator brings over a decade of knowledge as an attorney with an intersectional expertise on education and disability. Her experience includes compliance with legal obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and related federal and state laws.

Ms. Kovnator will join the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion’s Civil Rights Office where she will support the mission of advancing inclusion and accessibility for all members of the UCLA community. As ADA/504 compliance officer, Ms. Kovnator will report to the assistant vice chancellor for civil rights. Ms. Kovnator’s primary responsibilities will be to ensure that UCLA remains in compliance with its obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. In addition to her compliance duties, Ms. Kovnator will provide UCLA leadership with advice and counsel pertaining to accessibility for people with disabilities.
