PEN America, a nonprofit organization working to defend and celebrate free expression in the United States and worldwide, recently published their Campus Free Speech Guide. This valuable resource for faculty, staff, and students provides practical, principled guidance for how campuses can best remain open to all voices.
Note: PEN America recently collaborated with the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) on the event, CrossCheck Live: “Freedom to Protest & Freedom to Speak: The Challenges and Opportunities for University Governance”.
The Guide further highlights existing EDI resources and videos on free speech on campus in the following pages:
- “How to Respond to Heckling During a Speech”
- “UCLA Equity, Diversity and Inclusion – Free Speech on Campus”
